Owned by Parker Brothers/Hasbro, Boggle, known on the internet as Web Boggle/Weboggle, is a game that got its start in the offline world as a type of board game. Using sixteen cubes with letters printed on each face of each cube, the cubes are scrambled so they land flat with only one letter visible per cube.
The goal is to spell out words at least 3 letters long using letters that touch either vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Players have 3 minutes to come with as many words as possible. Note: for each word, the same cube cannot be used more than once.
Web boggle enables the online player to challenge other online players through a network employed by the hosting site - in essence, you can play web boggle against other players without knowing who they are or where they're from. This anonymity and the competitive nature of web boggle have both contributed to the popularity of the game.
Scoring for Boggle goes as such:
1 point for a word of 3 or 4 letters
2 points for a word of 5 letters
3 points for a word of 6 letters
5 points for a word of 7 letters
11 points for a word of 8 or more letters
