What Is House Music?
House music is an electronica based form of music said to descend from disco roots in the 70's.
While house music is not as popular in North America as in Europe, it is gaining momentum with a larger presence in major North American club cities such as Chicago, Montreal and Miami. Many club owners regard house music as the "future of club music", recognizing the growing popularity toward the brand. Many who don't immediately recognize house music often mis-label it under the generic term of "techno music".
The origin of the name "house music" is disputed - some argue it derived from Chicago's Warehouse in the 80's that played early forms of house music, while others argue the name originated from the ability to mix the style of music on turntables literally in one's own home, or house.
